Mangalya Bandham
A Telugu wedding beneath the chandeliers of Falaknuma
PROJECT DETAILS
EDITORIAL NARRATIVE
Three days, four hundred guests and one very early muhurtham. Sravani and Karthik wanted their wedding remembered the way their families actually lived it — the pindi vantalu smell drifting from the kitchen, cousins fighting over the talambralu, her mother's hands shaking as she tied the sari. We shot almost entirely on available light, letting the palace chandeliers and the pre-dawn mandapam lamps do the work.
“Vaaradhi gave us the photos our parents cry over, not the ones that just look good on Instagram.”
The bride, moments before the muhurtham at 4:40 AM
The mangalsutra, held by four generations of hands
Jeelakarra bellam — the first steady look between them
The mandapam at dawn, before anyone had arrived
Reception at Falaknuma, in her grandmother's Gadwal silk
